Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, in America's eyes, into the child prodigy category. This was a natural trait for an Irish-born child surrounded by talented parents as well as a loving and supportive family. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin - Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based business and owned a share of "The Shamrock Rovers" a renowned Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the second daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons The rest of the family rounded out the wonderful family. Maureen loved playing rough sports when she was young and became very adept in them. Her ability to perform was a perfect complement to her interest in sport. As a result, she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances in her country of birth. When she turned 14, she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her dreams of classical theater as well as singing opera.
